Hi there! My name is Branda Nong and I am a senior at Texas State University pursuing a B.S in Digital Media Innovation with a minor in Business Administration. I was born and raised in Beaumont, Texas. I'm a first generation Vietnamese-American and I will be the second in my family to graduate college! For as long as I can recall sitting in a salon chair, my dream had always been to become a hairstylist. The techniques, science, and artistry of a hairstylist was inspiring to me. Along with that, I believed making people feel beautiful inside and out was very rewarding.
Beauty is my passion all around. I saw myself working in beauty services after high school. However, I took another path and attended university but I knew I've always wanted to remain connected to the beauty world. I looked for different ways to see how I could put my creativity into my education and my career. Fortunately, Texas State helped me do that with the introduction of DMI studies.
At the moment, I work for Bella Salon in Austin, Texas, one of Austin's most reputable salons. I work as a social media and guest services coordinator. I love to capture my colleague's work and the essence of our salon. Through working in social media, I've learned valuable skills such as analytics, ads, editing, and more. Being the bridge between the salon and the digital platform has inspired me to strive more for my future career.
